My Biggest Fear

I was going to write a post this week about what I am eating these days but that gem is just gonna have to wait. And as will you 🙂

I want to talk about what I am afraid of most.

PicMonkey Collageskeered

A bit over a year ago I took a self-imposed break from all things internet.

Email, facebook, all social media, and general internet ‘browsing.’

All of it!

Even tv (yup, even my beloved The Bold and The Beautiful was not on every day at 1:30pm).

It was hard at first.

I had anxiety and didn’t quite know what to do with myself.

But then, after about three weeks, things came together.

I was fine. 🙂

And a strong message came through.

The message was all about love.

I even painted these:

The message that had come across once I hushed all the external chatter from everywhere was:

Share love

Give love

Be love

Shout about love!

I cried.

I was sad and confused for a bit.

But my soul felt like it had come home.

My soul WANTS to be a cheerleader and a superhero for the forgotten part of US ALL that is a bright shiny light of love and stuff that makes us US.

But I have, since I was little, believed that being my own shiny light or celebrating others bright shiny light was stupid and that I should just be quiet and sit in the corner.

So I am afraid to shine my light.

And worse, I am afraid to champion for you to shine your light.

I am afraid to be called ‘A little Mary Sunshine.’

OMG :::shudder:::

Seriously, I do not want to be considered a Polly Anna or like someone who thinks we all crap rainbows and kittens (wouldn’t that hurt anyway?!?!).

Maybe I made up this lie about not being a shiny light.

Maybe it was taught to me.

Who cares. It does not matter.

Because now…

I am over it.

O-V-E-R IT!!

Because I have been carrying this lie around with me wearing it like a badge for far FAR too long.

So…now, NOW, while I am still afraid….

I am going for it.

I am going to cheerlead and be a superhero for…

I am still afraid but have realized it is time to step into what it is I am here to do.

It is time to get out of my own way.

So I can help you…

There I said it.

I am going to talk about

…and sometimes even talk about THE DIVINE (in us, around us, and how awesome it is and how close it is to all of us). And probably talk about rainbows and kittens cuz rainbows are awesome and kittens are cute.

But also talk about how…

it is sometimes hard to connect with all those things, it can feel like a stretch, too Polly Anna, or that we are not worthy.

BUT I want you to know this…

that when we do connect with love, miracles, the divine, possibility and freedom, or when we just surrender and let ourselves look into that shiny bright part of ourselves (and others)

life begins to flow…

miracles begin to happen…

possibility presents itself…

life feels freer…

love is there…

just as it has always been…

and your light begins to shine as it always has wanted to!

I am here to guide us to that place where we can all shine

Are you in?

Join me!

Let’s all get into that expansive, free, loving, miraculous place where life is full of possibility!

And should you fall (or forget)…

Well, I am here to pick you up.

I am hear to remind you.

You are a bright shiny light that deserves to shine and thrive.

We are all in it together.

This is my biggest fear.

Saying all this.

Being this way.

Worrying what people will think.

I worry that I cannot uphold this all the time.

I fear upsetting people who think all this talk is bullshit.

I am conscious that I have ‘tried’ to do many other things (hello, acupuncture?? raw food?? psychic?? blogger??) and that some may be wary of this ‘new’ thing. But I know it brings all of my strengths together so I can do the work I am here to do. I know in my heart that this feels like the most expansive thing I have ever done and that I can create this umbrella in which to work under and do all the things I want to do to help others.

So I am putting fear aside.

So I can move forward.

And more importantly…help you do the same!

So I hope you will join me. I have lots coming up so stay tuned!!

With possibility, freedom, love and miracles for all,

Your Head Cheerleader and Superhero for Possibility, Freedom, Love & Miracles

Possibility Tour Interview: Oneness Meditator Andy Migner

Spirituality has spoken to me for a long time.

I have wanted to be more spiritual but could not seem to find a place for myself to do so.

Conventional religious institutions did not speak to me.

I felt fine with a lot of the concepts of religion but did not want to dive in and align myself with one particular sector.

I spent a lot of time thinking what it ‘should’ look like and searching through books, seminars etc.

Then I came apon the Oneness Blessing Movement through my friend, Andy Migner, and I knew I had found my place!

When you attend an Oneness Blessing or Oneness Meditation event, you receive Divine love and energy through the blesser or the meditator. This channel of energy is said to create shifts in the receiver so that they begin to become ‘awakened’. Andy speaks of the interchange between the Meditator and a person and how it is a reminding – a reminding to your self, the real true loving you, a reminding of the Divine IN YOU!

I love that!

Awakening is a process which just brings you back to you. Brings you closer to your Divine (the Divine OF YOUR CHOICE!) and helps you begin to feel you have more ‘Oneness’ with the world, the earth, and the people around you.

I always believed that in becoming more spiritual, I would become less of myself.

Less of a spaz, less extroverted, less heavy metal loving, less bad ass. And this made me sad, cranky and not excited to be more spiritual!!

Well, for me, the journey now has been the opposite.

The Oneness Blessings and Meditations that I have received have been amazing.

And have NOT made me less of myself but more of myself which feels WAY more expansive.

I am sometimes WAY more of a spaz.

But I don’t care now, I embrace it more.

I am embracing my extrovertedness and no longer hating that part of myself.

Actually a lot less hating of myself overall!

I love love love heavy metal AND spiritual music! I really love all music and this has become more apparent.

And yup, I feel more bad ass.

And my FAVORITE thing about the Oneness movment?

No rules to follow.

No book to read.

No ‘shoulds’.

Just blessings that help you get back to you.

It is truly amazing I believe.

And I could not wait to share this interview with you.

So I brought my friend and Oneness Meditator, Andy Migner, who has a wonderful way of sharing about the Oneness Blessings and the whole movement.

She shares her experiences and explains all about the movement – it’s origins and it’s intentions.

I share my experiences as well.

I think you will really enjoy this interview!

The No Assumption August aka The Ass-U-Me Free August!

For the past year I have been watching my thoughts.

It’s a fun hobby.

Well, most of the time.

What I have noticed are patterns.

And one of the predominant patterns is that of assuming.

I assume ALL THE TIME.

And you know what they say, ‘When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME.’

And true.

I have watched my mind over and over again make assumptions about EVERYTHING.

And, if I had to guess, my assumptions are wrong about 80% of the time.

So much for being intuitive!! LOL.

The big thing for me is that I assume when I cannot figure a situation or person out. I am not content with things being ‘grey’. Or heck, things just ‘being.’ I need things to be obvious and up front. So when I cannot immediate figure something or someone out, I go on and make shit up. It makes me feel more comfortable,  for the moment at least.

It seems clear that this pattern is a defense mechanism. I feel stressed or unsure, I make shit up to comfort myself.

And assumptions are fear based – I am afraid so I am going to assume to distract me from what is really bothering me about this particular situation or person.

For example:

That person has not emailed me back, they must think I am crazy and want me to go away.

That person seemed grouchy this morning, they must hate me.

Why is this situation like this? Well, those people are crazy and run their lives like  ferrel cats. They must be miserable living their lives that way.

Ya, big giant ridiculous energy wasters! Oh and there are more examples but you get the point 🙂

So I finally decided to try and steer the boat of my mind away from assuming. I feel it is holding me back and as well taking up valuable energy.

And, hello, it is just ridonkulous the majority of the time.

And it can also be a lot of energetic pressure to put on people to have their actions dictate how you feel at any given moment. I feel letting them off the hook as well as yourself off the hook creates A LOT of good energy and great energetic flow in your head and in your life!

I am declaring this month:

The No Assumption August

or my favorite,

The Ass-U-Me Free August

So, will you join me?

Every week I will begin a discussion on my facebook page and we can all share our experiences.

The weeks will go like this:

Week 1:

Minding the mind – Let’s just notice any and all assuming and not judge it or badger ourselves about it. Yet at the same time, do not let your mind take over and drive the bus to assumption land. I believe it is natural to have many of these thoughts but when they begin to take over, it is time to begin to grab the wheel! I will be sharing tips and my own struggles with this.

Week 2:

Trust – When we notice ourselves assuming, instead of believing our thoughts, let’s take what is happening at face value and trust ourselves not to have to figure it all out. And also, TRUST the natural course of events. No need to over control them or analyze them to death. <—- as comforting as that can be if you are like me and constantly doing that

Week 3:

Ask – Unclear about something, some situation, some interaction with another person? ASK THEM TO CLARIFY. We are all adults, right?!?! Well, I am trying to be. 🙂 Let’s give one another the benefit of the doubt and know that if something needs to be communicated, it will. And if it is not and you need clarity, ASK THEM! This can be scary for some of us, so I think it will be great to share our experiences.

Week 4:

Insights – How did it all go? What were some big A-ha moments, clarity or even completely craptastic moments? I will give my final insights and give thoughts on where to go from here!

I truly believe that if we mind the chatter, the assuming, the constant busy-ness that our minds are often caught up with, we can unveil our true nature, get to who we truly are, and shine our fabulous light AND as well, feel better, look better and tread lighter in our every day lives.

It all starts Monday, August 5th 2013.

Join in!

All you have to do is head on over to my Facebook page and give it a ‘like’ BUT then, and this is important, once you click the ‘like’ button, hover over it and a menu will open up. Be sure to also click ‘Add to interest lists’ so all my posts show up on your feed.

And if you are joining in, be sure to invite some friends to do so as well.

See you Monday!

How to make homemade ice cream

Did you know it is possible to make your own ice cream?

And what is SO great about it is that you can control the ingredients and make a natural, delicious treat everyone will love!

I am good at some stuff but my friend, Sara Cohen, is not only a truly great mom to two year old twin boys, but an amazing baker and cook too!

The Possibility Tour took a little trip to Sara’s house so she could show us how to make ice cream.

It was so fun!

Sara was also nice enough to share her amazing recipe with us:

Nutella S’mores Ice cream
2 cups milk
2/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
 8 egg yolks
 5 tablespoons Nutella
Chocolate covered graham pieces
Marshmallow Fluff (recipe to follow)
More Nutella (!)
1. Have two medium bowls ready, one with a with a strainer (preferably fine mesh).
2. Bring milk and cream to an almost-simmer on medium heat. Look for tiny bubbles to appear around the edge of the pot.
3. Whisk yolks and sugar together in a medium bowl.
4. Slowly pour about 1/3 of milk mixture into yolks and sugar while whisking constantly (this is called tempering). Pour the contents of the bowl back into the pot.
5. Using a wooden spoon, cook the mixture over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick, velvety looking and coats the back of a spoon. Immediately strain into clean bowl.
6. Whisk in 5 tablespoons Nutella. Cool over an ice bath. Cover and chill in the fridge several hours or overnight.
7. Churn in ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions. When the ice cream is about soft-serve consistency, mix in graham pieces, fluff and Nutella. Freeze for several hours until firm.

Homemade Corn Syrup-Free Marshmallow Fluff (Makes 5-6 cups)

2 egg whites

12 oz honey

1. Begin heating honey on medium heat in medium saucepan. Attach a candy thermometer.
2. Whip egg whites in a stand mixer until medium peak.
3. When honey reaches 240 degrees, turn mixer to medium and slowly pour honey into the bowl. Increase speed to high and whip until cool. Store in fridge for 2 weeks.

Amazing, huh?!?!

I cannot thank Sara enough for sharing her time and recipe and love with us!

Check out her blog here.

Did you love this recipe and video? If so, please share it with your friends.

Have you gone over and liked my Facebook page yet? Do so because you don’t want to miss all the great stuff that is coming soon!

Self-discipline – helpful or hindrance?

When I was an undergrad, getting my BS in Biology, there was a lot to do.

I was also working 3-4 (sometimes 5) nights a week.

I didn’t always have the discipline to study and do all the things I need to do.

I would often feel bad about myself and the whole journey, thinking I had to be more disciplined.

I even hung a sign above one of our doors so I could see it every day when I was leaving the house.

It looked something like this:

The more I read that sign, the worse I felt.

I did get through and get my Bachelors in Science and go on to get my Masters in Acupuncture.

So I did ok.

Discipline or not.

Either way, I had what it took to get through.

But, because I must enjoy suffering, I beat myself up the whole time for not being good enough, not doing enough, blah blah blah.

I was on a bike ride this morning thinking about discipline.

It has been 12 years since I graduated from college. Nine years since acupuncture school graduation.

In my personal life, in my personal growth life, my spiritual life, I have continually tried to be more ‘disciplined.’

Then I stopped.

So this morning when I was pondering discipline, I thought of expansiveness.

I thought of how it feels to be free.

I like that feeling.

I can’t even wear a turtleneck, I hate the feeling of being trapped in that damn sweater trying to choke me!! LOL. But I am totally serious. I @#% hate turltenecks.

I decided not to continue with an acupuncture practice because I wanted to have more freedom in my career. Not be stuck in one room, one office, one routine.

It did not feel expansive being ‘stuck’ doing one thing.

I have tried to wake up every day and have a morning routine. Be disciplined enough to do that. It felt great. I was disciplined!

But it did not feel freeing or expansive.

So, because I had no idea what else to do, I gave up.

Gave up on trying.

Gave up on discipline.

So I ask, do we all NEED discipline?

Do we need to BE disciplined in our lives?

I believe from the bottom of my heart that discipline is the answer for many. It can work. The shift from not doing anything to doing something on a more strict, regular basis can work. It can get you out of a funk. Sometimes you just have to do something different . I have read enough Tony Robbins (I love that guy!) to know how successful discipline can be.

But maybe not for me.

Maybe not for you.

What feels expansive? What feels good?

Those were important things for me to think about, to tap into once I gave up.

And I gave up mostly because what I was doing WAS NOT WORKING.

All the trying, the pushing, the attempts at discipline.

It was not working.

I believe now that it didn’t work for me because what I was always doing was trying to get away from myself. Trying to push against who I was. Thinking I could discipline and self-help my way AWAY from the shit bag that I have always thought I was.

Um, no wonder it didn’t work!

So if it feels more expansive to just let it all go, I say DO IT!

Once I let go of the idea that I HAD to do all these sorts of things, that I had to push and try and be more disciplined to be BETTER, things began to unfold.

My life began to unfold.

I naturally began to take better care of myself. Feeling better felt great.

My expansiveness is sometimes messy and goofy.

I am a goofy hot mess sometimes. A lovable one, of course. 🙂

I always thought I could discipline myself OUT of that part of me.

But digging into all that messiness has really been the key for me.

Sometimes giving up, letting go, and getting messy is the answer.

What do you think?

Possibility Tour Spotlight: Cabo Cado

I headed down to Cape Cod this weekend with my girls (8 and 2) to visit a friend.

Not just any friend, but THE Vinnie Arnone of THE Cabo Cado!

I wanted to share with you his story and what he is doing and has done.

It has possibility and yes all over it!!

Just barely a year and a half ago Vinnie began is own business. He took his love for Cape Cod (where he grew up and where he is now back living), his talent for design, and his passion for local, creative, and inspiring things and created CABO CADO. He designs totes, beach bags, tees, koozies, calendars, and postcards all in ode to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. He is now in 26 stores all over the Cape – as of July 2013 – I do not doubt for one second that there will be more in the future!

I am so proud of him and couldn’t wait to share this amazing example of possibility with you. Vinnie is in THE FLOW! He wouldn’t necessarily use those words but I would 🙂 I just love this example of taking something you love and what you are good at and creating a business for yourself. But not just for yourself, for others as well. People are seriously loving his stuff! Check out how great these items are (all made in the USA)!

AND he designed the cover of this summer’s Cape Cod magazine’s best of issue!

I think it is all CRAZY inspiring and hope you do too!

Vinnie was more than happy to run a little giveaway with me so we are giving away one tote bag, a koozie, and a postcard. When you win, you can choose the Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket design. Contest ends Saturday July 20th so be sure to enter now and often!

Click here: a Rafflecopter giveaway to enter and win your tote and more!

And please feel free to share this contest, this blog post and Cabo Cado with your friends! Thanks!!
