If you have read anything I have written over the past few years, you know that mindset is something that comes up a lot.
My own mindset has been quite a struggle for me for my whole life, even driving me to a suicide attempt as a teenager and lots of self-abuse & depression as a young adult.
Recently, it feels (as it has many times over the past 10 years yet never for long) as if weight has been taken off my soul. With a weight off my soul it feels like I can get down to biz for myself in ways I never could. I am feeling very free and positive and these mindset tools have been a big part of it.
I wanted to share them with you because they are all so great. Try them all! Try one every day for a month. Think about trying them but don’t because putting pressure on yourself or adding another thing to your list of ‘shoulds’ is a sure sign of disaster (trust me I know!). Just do or don’t do what feels best for YOU.
These are in no particular order or any one more important or better than another. If you feel you could use a mindset shift, just pick one (or as many) that speak to you.
1. Mind Movie
I have made my own personal Mind Movie that I have been watching at least once a day. Mind movies use powerful images, affirmations & music – all personal & powerful to YOU – allowing your brain and thoughts to shift to those powerful feelings, thoughts & images. I love mine so very much & I am always tweaking it to make updates & changes to reflect how I want to feel.
Here is a ‘generic’ one I made for the masses, watch it and if you like it, try watching it every day for a month and see what happens (and be sure to tell me!!).
2. Meditating with Wayne
In 2006 I read The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. I highly recommend it. I was also introduced to his Japa meditation that he highly suggests and I have dabbled in doing it over the years. Lately I have been doing it every day and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I involves chanting, which is my favorite thing ever. Wayne recently passed away so this felt like a great way to honor him and his work. It feels so timely. He will always be such an inspiration. You can find this meditation ‘Getting in the Gap’ on YouTube or buy it on Amazon. But really any meditation you can do is great. Even just a few minutes rocks and changes your brain, soul, spirit, energy etc for the better.
Daily gratitude is a powerful thing. Get a journal you love looking at, put it by the bed and every night before you go to bed, write 3-10 things you are grateful for AND WHY. Really feel it. Go to bed. Feel great. Seriously, it is that easy.
4. The Secret & Abraham-Hicks
I have been spending lots of time in the car especially now that I am driving for Uber. I have The Secret on cd and listen to it during down time and in between pick ups. It is exactly what I need to hear to keep my mind positive and in the space of miracles and possibilities. Honestly, I have listened to it about 100 times and seem to hear new things each time!! Anything that you can listen to to keep your mind positive is a good thing. A really good thing.
And, OMG!! Abraham-Hicks! I almost forgot and I am adding this in post-publish. How could I have forgotten, I’m not sure. Anyhoo, check them out via their YouTube station. Listen, listen, listen. Just listen. It’s the freakin best. Read the book Ask and it is Given.
A few months ago I made a lil pact with mahself. A NO MORE DRAMA pact. I will not get involved in drama of any kind nor will I speak of drama (especially for dramas’ sake which I have been known to do!) of any kind. So what’s a gal to do when she needs to get it out?? Cuz sometimes ya just need to bitch about something to get it out of your head. One time is enough! So I either sit the hubby down and say ‘Mama needs to bitch but let’s not give this much energy.’ OR I journal. I get it all out on paper. Then I throw the paper away. It has been challenging not to make 3 or 4 calls with ‘OMG, you are NOT going to believe THIS travesty!!!’ as I have always done, but I will NOT give my energy away anymore. NO MORE DRAMA, like Mary J. Blige says. Love you Mary!
6. Clear out the clutter
I have a few areas in my home that have been bugging me for a while. They needed some dusting and a lot of love. I have not, like NOT AT ALL, been motivated to tackle these small projects. And I felt pathetic about that. I would just look at those areas and sigh a pathetic sigh. Not good for the mindset. For whatever reason, I was motivated the other day to get to it! And I did and it felt amazeballs. Clearing out any area in your home that is bothering you is like money in the bank! Seriously. Clear clutter = more abundant flow your way. Good feng shui. Really good. I feel like a million bucks now when I see these areas. Plus I also added some fresh flowers around the house for more goodness. I am happy. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
7. Patience, Forgiveness & Self-love
This, of course, is a blog post (or 100) in itself but must be put on this list and given attention to. Be patient with yourself. Forgive yourself for everything. Send yourself some self-love. Do really good things for yourself. Take your time. Do things you love & that you think are fun. This shifts your energy & mind so easily. We are inundated in our society with shoulds. Stop shoulding all over yourself and get on with having some fun.
I think FUN should be first on this list or on it somewhere but ‘7 tips’ always sounds so good! LOL.
So here is your bonus tip:
GO HAVE SOME FUN.
I want to add swears to this tip for emphasis.
GO HAVE SOME FUCKING FUN DAMN IT!
Oooooh, ok, one more!
Get out in the nature.
Today. And as often as possible.
What is your favorite tip and which one (or ones) do you think you want to try?
